We'd like to invite you to the Foundant User Group and NECFO Meeting / PFK O'Connor Davies CPE Program in Hartford, CT taking place Thursday, May 30 - Friday, May 31.
Foundant Technologies User Group Meeting (May 30, 10 AM – 3 PM)
Current and prospective users of Foundant’s Community Suite, GLM or SLM products can attend this regional forum at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, which converted to all three products in November 2018.
On Thursday, you will spend the first part of the day receiving a Foundant company update, see some unique use scenarios, and walk-through recent release information for CommunitySuite, or CommunityGrants and CommunityScholarships.
The second part of the day, Foundant VP of Product Management, Grant Elliott, Product Manager, Sammie Holzwarth, and Product Manager, Bryan Geary will be there to answer any questions you might have at this free information and training event.
Thursday Schedule:

1:00pm – 3:00pm – Foundant Software Implementation
6:30pm –Hosted Dinner, TBA

NECFO Meeting and PKF O’Connor Davies CPE Training Sessions (May 31, 10 AM - 3 PM)
On Friday Morning, PKF O'Connor Davies will offering two training sessions - Cyber Security and Effects of Tax Reform on Foundations. CPE credits will be determined and available to receive at the event.
CPE Program:
-Thomas DeMayo, Principal at PKF O'Connor Davies will discuss Cybersecurity for Community Foundations. Today's more frequent and pervasive IT security breaches, the heightened regulatory environment and increased sensitivity and awareness to privacy, underscores the importance of a strong system of internal controls to mitigate the risks of cyber-attacks and data breaches. Community foundations are a prime target for cyber criminals. This session will explore these risks, examine the various current cyber threats and discuss key steps to protect the foundation against cyber threats.
-Garrett Higgins, Partner in charge of Exempt Organization and Advisory Services at PKF O’Connor Davies, will discuss the most recent changes in the tax law affecting not-for-profit organizations and what organizations need to know to comply. Discussion topics will include a review of the new tax on qualified fringe benefits, the latest on the unrelated business income segregation rules, current guidance on excise tax on excess compensation, and other tax matters.
PKF O'Connor Davies is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE sponsors. State Boards of Accountancy have the final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE Credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org
NECFO Meeting in the afternoon
We will have an informal conversation during lunch and then a roundtable discussion of topics of interest, including:
New lines of business, mission investing, technology beyond the primary database, helpful staff development, fee analyses, private foundation DAF funds, and other topics.
