Event Description

This educational session will guide participants through the process of reviewing their investment policy statements to ensure they align with organizational objectives and requirements. Attendees will learn how to identify areas for improvement and apply best practices for customizing their investment policy statements to reflect unique needs. The session emphasizes practical strategies for tailoring policy language to create effective, actionable investment policies that support long-term financial success. The session will also highlight best practices for establishing good board oversight and ongoing maintenance of your existing investment policy statement.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • List best practices for developing and maintaining investment policy statements (IPS)
  • Define an effective oversight process and review frequency for IPS governance
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing investment policy statements
  • Devise customized restrictions for unique asset pools aligned to risk tolerance and spending needs
  • Design policy language that reflects an organization’s unique objectives in today’s market environment

About Our Speaker
This webinar is hosted by the FAOG Investment Practices Committee and led by Kathleen Walters with SEI's Intitutional Group.

Kathleen is a Managing Director and market expert, overseeing the higher education client base within SEI’s Institutional Group, analyzing the risk profile of clients and the impact on asset allocation. She provides support for client relationships as a key resource that provides customized advice and analyses.
One of Kathleen’s focus areas includes implementing SEI’s solution for clients by providing advice and analysis that integrates multiple asset pools with organizational finances into a cohesive investment strategy. She will coordinate asset allocation reviews, spending studies, institutional risk, and financial analyses. 
Kathleen previously worked at Northern Trust Asset Management as a Senior Client Investment Officer providing advice to institutional clients to help them achieve their investment goals through the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of custom investment programs. Prior to that, she spent 13 years at PFM Asset Management, a subsidiary of US Bank Asset Management, where she worked as a Director working with public and higher education clients to manage their fixed income and multi-asset class portfolios. She also spent some time working at DiMeo Schneider (now Fiducient Advisors) as a Fixed Income Research Analyst covering all fixed income asset classes. 

 FAOG is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org.

1.0 CPE Credit Pending. In order to be awarded the full credit, you must participate live, be logged in individually with the name they registered under shown, respond to the polling questions asked during the program and complete the evaluation form following the session.
